The Sunshine is the pavilion where the German architect Bruno-Taut spent almost three years (Aug.1.1934-Oct.8.1936) studying various aspects of Japanese culture. The thirteen or so books he wrote on Japan played a major role in expanding the West's Knowledge of Japan, and have had a profound influence on modern architecture. A stone marker next to the building is inscribed in German, with Taut's words, “I love Japanese culture".
